[0.0-5.9] 19 months ago my brother Michael comes home from college super masculine meat and eggs all the eight comes home and tells us [5.9-12.1] Yeah, I'm going vegan. I'm vegan now, right and we're like I was thinking that this guy takes some crazy dose of psychedelics [12.1-15.8] Whatever okay, how we'll see how long this lasts anyways a couple weeks later [15.8-18.2] We're having debates about it. I'm a pretty logical person [18.2-24.5] So is he and as we go on and go on and go on I fell to bring up counters when I come to health and ethics [24.5-25.9] So none of my family's going vegan [25.9-29.6] We're all talking about how annoying he is aka how much cognitive dissonance he's causing all of us [29.6-34.7] Besides my dad and now I'm having a conversation with my dad and my brother about three weeks after he got home [34.7-39.7] And they start to describe what happens in these factory farms and they both start to tee up now [39.7-42.7] These are both very masculine men. I don't see him cry a lot [42.7-49.2] And I'm like there's something here that I'm not seeing and so I took a deep breath and I told him I said, you know what? [49.2-54.8] I'll try it's I'll try my brother since we some documentaries one being game changers the other being dominion [54.8-59.4] I watch game changers first. I see these elite level athletes completely dominating their sport eating [59.4-62.4] No meat my worldview shifts there to realize holy shit [62.4-66.9] We never needed this in the first place then the stunner hit which was dominion [66.9-70.2] This is an inside look at what happens in factory farms in slaughterhouses [70.2-77.3] We're even the locally farmed animals go and I watched what happened the pigs was the first one and within [77.3-82.4] Five minutes of watching this documentary. I told myself there's not a chance in the world [82.4-83.2] I'm ever eating meat again [83.2-87.1] And I just balled my eyes out and repented for a good 30 to 40 minutes [87.1-91.4] And I did give myself grace because I was living in ignorance not direct immorality [91.4-98.7] And from that point, I realized that the meat industry and meat is the biggest sigh up the biggest red pill in this world [98.7-101.7] Because a lot of the male self-development influencers [101.7-107.4] I looked up to all promoted it a lot of conscious people promote it when a reality the things I saw no [107.8-115.0] Real masculine men no one who has actually focused on becoming the best version of yourself and protecting others would promote those things [115.0-119.9] Especially when you have elite level athletes eating plants and performing at their top level [119.9-125.5] So for us to do this to these animals completely unnecessarily and it's also negative for our health insane [125.5-130.2] Insane and that's when I decided to start the bodybuilding competition because I was okay [130.2-133.0] What can I do about this? This is the this is the biggest abomination on the planet [133.0-138.2] And I realized a big thing holding me back when my brother was trying to convince me was saying I needed to be strong [138.2-143.5] And the science and support that the proof didn't support that and so I embarked on the bodybuilding comp journey [143.6-149.0] Lost my first comp won this recent one and that was about 19 months ago [149.0-156.5] So that's how I became vegan and now I'm very passionate about combining male self-development and the vegan movement because they they go very well
