# RWA Daily Update - 2026-09-20 ## Lesson Corporate actions must follow the holding, not just the token Access date: September 20, 2026 (PDT). Educational source review, not investment advice. ## Official sources checked 1. DTCC, "DTCC Tokenization Service" (undated service page; accessed today). URL: https://www.dtcc.com/digital-assets/tokenization Retrieval: web extraction succeeded. This is the infrastructure operator's description of its service design, not an independent performance audit or a finding of regulatory approval. Relevant section: "Identical Legal and Ownership Rights". Exact passage: "DTC-issued tokens are designed to represent the same legal rights, economic interest and investor protections associated with the underlying securities, while supporting corporate action processing across tokenized, traditional or mixed holdings." Relevant section: "Interoperable Settlement Infrastructure". Exact passage: "tokenized assets can integrate with existing custody, settlement and servicing processes". 2. HKMA, "Bond Tokenisation in Hong Kong", August 2023. URL: https://www.hkma.gov.hk/media/eng/doc/key-information/press-release/2023/20230824e3a1.pdf Retrieval: direct Python urllib PDF download and pypdf extraction succeeded; 24 PDF pages. Page 4: Project Evergreen's objectives included testing DLT across primary issuance and settlement, coupon payment, secondary trading settlement and maturity redemption. Page 7, Table 1: the report describes potential operational improvements from DLT across these lifecycle stages. Page 7, paragraph 9: wider applicability depends on digital-bond features, on-chain/off-chain workflows and adaptation of conventional infrastructure; digital bonds vary with technical feasibility and legal, regulatory and economic factors. Use: corroborates the distinction between transfer functionality and ongoing asset servicing. Does not establish that every platform has delivered all claimed efficiencies. ## Facts versus educational interpretation - Official operator statement: DTCC's design supports corporate action processing for tokenized, traditional and mixed holdings. Preserve "designed to"; do not promise identical rights for unrelated tokens. - Official historical report: HKMA treats coupon payment and maturity redemption as part of the bond lifecycle, not as optional extras after issuance. - Educational interpretation: an investor needs a complete entitlement and servicing process, not just successful wallet transfers. The example of moving a holding between conventional and tokenized form is a due-diligence scenario, not a reported incident. - Questions about cutoffs, authoritative records, double-counting, payment routes and dispute resolution are editorial checks. These sources do not establish the detailed answers for a particular investor or intermediary. ## No-hype summary Tokenization must connect to the ongoing rights attached to a security. A functioning token transfer does not by itself prove who will receive the next payment. Mixed conventional and tokenized holdings make entitlement reconciliation especially important. Platform and legal documentation, rather than the token label, determine the actual process. ## Watch question If my holding changes form before a payment, which record determines my entitlement, and who resolves a mismatch? ## Novelty check Earlier notes discuss Franklin fund transfer timing (July 28) and general SIX custody/servicing integration (August 27). This lesson focuses specifically on corporate-action continuity across mixed traditional and tokenized holdings; it is not presented as breaking news. ## Retrieval limitations / discarded lead - Web search for DTCC corporate-action record dates returned predominantly third-party pages despite a domain-oriented query. Those pages were not used as evidence. - https://www.sec.gov/files/tm/no-action/dtc-nal-121125.pdf: web extraction returned only a short introductory fragment. Direct Python urllib retrieval with a browser User-Agent returned HTTP 403. No substantive corporate-action or record-date conclusions were drawn from that incomplete access. - No browser visual verification tool was available. Publication verification uses exact remote file checks and live HTTP content checks. ## Editorial boundary No investment advice, price/yield forecast, regulatory endorsement or universal ownership claim. No estimates used. A token is not automatically ownership, liquidity, safety or an enforceable payment claim.
