# Project STARGATE / Remote Viewing — Research Brief

## Bottom line
Project STARGATE is a real, declassified Cold War U.S. intelligence program area involving remote viewing / psychic-intelligence experiments. It is not, by itself, proof of UFOs, aliens, or psychic powers. The strongest responsible treatment is: government agencies funded and used the idea for years, partly because of concern about Soviet work; the record contains claimed successes and many questionable results; a 1995 review led to termination after concluding the program was not operationally useful enough to continue.
