The program is administered by the Indiana Office of Energy Development under Governor Mike Braun. Communities earn one of three tiered designations — Nuclear Ready (Tier 1), Nuclear Engaged (Tier 2), and Nuclear Advanced (Tier 3) — based on criteria including stakeholder organization, site readiness, workforce development, and formal agreements with developers. Each tier carries a distinctive badge and a growing set of state and federal resources. The program launches at a pivotal moment. Indiana's grid is transitioning, data center demand is accelerating, and the PJM–MISO seam creates unique opportunities for baseload nuclear power. Being designated Indiana Nuclear Ready signals to developers that a community is serious, prepared, and worth their investment.
