Westinghouse–Amentum APX: AP300 Licensing Help, Not Delivered SMR Power
The useful headline is narrower than the nuclear-hype version. Westinghouse and Amentum announced agreements to support Westinghouse’s APX technology platform: more execution capacity for AP1000 fleet deployments and support for AP300 small modular reactor licensing work.
That matters because nuclear growth is not only a reactor-design problem. It is an engineering bench, supply-chain, licensing, project-delivery and public-trust problem. A partner agreement can strengthen that chain, but it does not turn a proposed SMR into licensed, built and operating firm power.
