Short verdict
The Reel accurately reflects a viral claim by the Khafre Research Project / Filippo Biondi media trail. It does not establish that the claimed kilometer-deep structures are real. No peer-reviewed Khafre paper, raw-data package, Egyptian field verification, or independent geophysical confirmation was found in the public trail.
What the Reel says
The clip says a research team scanned beneath the Khafre pyramid and found eight huge spiral columns leading to giant chambers. It says Biondi’s team answered skeptics by testing the technology at an underground physics laboratory, and that satellite operators such as Umbra, Capella Space, ICEYE and Cosmo-SkyMed returned identical raw tomography data. It also says the team has proposed using existing shafts between the Sphinx and Khafre rather than drilling.
What is real in the source trail
The claim is real
WION and other outlets reported Biondi’s claim that multiple satellite operators produced matching data. The Khafre Project’s own public material names Corrado Malanga, Filippo Biondi and Armando Mei.
The confirmation is not
Public reporting does not equal independent archaeological confirmation. I did not find releases from the named satellite operators validating the structure interpretation.
The method has a problem
The team’s earlier 2022 Remote Sensing pyramid paper is now marked retracted. That does not disprove every later claim, but it means the method cannot be treated as settled.
The comparison that matters: ScanPyramids
Modern non-invasive pyramid discovery is possible. The 2017 ScanPyramids “Big Void” paper in Nature used cosmic-ray muon radiography, detected known voids, then reported a new large void above the Grand Gallery. That result had three muon technologies and independent analyses behind it. The Khafre SAR story has not yet met that same public evidence standard.
Why experts are skeptical
AFP’s fact-check reported that Egyptology and radar experts rejected the viral claim as unsupported. Zahi Hawass called the claims fabrications and said there was no evidence of a mission working inside Khafre. Radar specialist Lawrence Conyers told AFP that radar waves attenuate in the ground and cannot reach the advertised depths with the claimed technique. Retraction Watch also reported criticism from specialists after the earlier SAR pyramid paper was withdrawn.
Expectation check
- Safe to say: a research group claims satellite/SAR Doppler tomography shows deep structures under Khafre.
- Not safe to say: scientists have confirmed a hidden underground city, spiral shafts, or giant chambers under Giza.
- Next evidence needed: raw data, code/methods, named operator confirmation, peer review, Egyptian authority status, and independent ground/muon/seismic/field verification.
This belongs in the UAP/ancient-mystery media-literacy lane because it sits at the intersection of archaeology, secret-history claims, podcast amplification, and technology language. The point is not to mock curiosity; it is to keep the evidence labels visible.
